I bought a second hand Nokia phone from a reputed person here @ TE.
He had clearly mentioned the phone comes with " Box & Bill " & all the accessories.
After the usual negotiations, I buy the phone from him, but when he sends me the phone, it's not in it's original box & also the Bill is dubious ( in sense that, it's not tax paid & no TIN or VAT reg id of dealer is visible on bill).

I ignore the bill, but i need the box coz it can dictate a whole lot of difference in price of the thing& also hampers the resale value. I constantly asked seller to send me the original box, to which he keeps on saying that it's in his other house & will send when he'll go there.
When i started pushing him, he completely stopped replying to my pm's, stopped taking my calls.
After 1 month or so, he says he has send me the box, thinking that the seller was indeed genuine, I apologized for my rude behavior and all.
Now when i've received this box, I'm at shock again, the box send is indeed of N82, but with all IMEI slips removed & now I doubt this phone is dubious ( maybe stolen or something, I don't know & I don't want to find out the hard way)

So I am here to ask for suggestion, what should be my stance now, as I may get into trouble anytime if it indeed is stolen or something..
What should I do..

I'm not publishing the name of the person, so that if he indeed is genuine than he'll oblige by whatever suggestion u people & mods here will give.

this person is telling about me n i had clearly mentioned in the sale thread its not under warranty

And about the box that sticker was paste on the original bill which the person frm the shop has done this. but the original bill was lost and though i had already send him duplicate bill. though handset was already not under warranty i had send the bill for his piece of mind now he know that handset is not under warranty still he is asking me to arrange bill with ahead date so he can claim warranty now he wants favour also + filing case on me.

1. Publish the member's name here

2. Prepare printouts of all your communication regarding the sale including PMs, and proofs of payment. I do hope you transmitted the money through a traceable means (cheque/bank transfer/ATM deposit) and not cash payment.

3. Take the phone to a Nokia Care center, and ask them to check the IMEI of the phone against their records of sale.

4. If the phone is stolen, lodge a formal police complaint. Use the documentation you have as evidence. This is way beyond the forum's resolving capabilities.

5. If the phone is genuine and is supported by Nokia, walk away assured. It's quite possible the box is from a different set. The box is never required by Nokia for any purpose whatsoever. It has no bearing on the resale value, and has no influence on the price.

I personally have a Nokia N85 that was swapped by Nokia Care but the original box is still with me. So the IMEI numbers on the box and the phone will never match, but there's nothing I can do about that. If your case is similar, then it's no problem whatsoever.

His thread does not mention anything about the bill. I don't know if he told you that he would supply a bill via PM though.

It does however seem that you have received a box which belongs to another phone. I don't see any reason why someone would remove the IMEI stickers.

Goodness me. Some buyers are so demanding.

@iq

Dont get paranoid. Enjoy the phone dude :P

Yes I have all

3. Take the phone to a Nokia Care center, and ask them to check the IMEI of the phone against their records of sale. OK will do

Just think would u buy a phone that does not come with box & bill for the same price as to one that comes with both??

@vb86: It's about the box & not about bill.

@vij: To some it might be a simple thing, but to some it may b important. I have a friend who had to shell out Rs 12000 + the phone to get himself out of the case that was registered against him for buying a stolen phone.

the only thing buyer wants that he want to check weather its genuine or not i had already told the buyer that he can go to nokia care and ask them. I had repaired the phone and there must be record on this in which my name is written.

err......nothing related to the complaint but in the sale thread you said you never needed the warranty, now you are saying you have repaired it,

^^ that was a software problem not a hardware problem so it cant be said repaired but in terms software or hardware its repaired

Nokia N82 10.5k SHIPPED

nice condition warranty over but i never need warranty as it never disappointed me ever. all acc with box changed the back upper cover as there is orange logo on it.

contradicting statements..???

The problem is resolved:

As per our IM'ic conversation I'v asked him to mail me clearly stating that he has sold me this phone ( with it's IMEI ) & his personal details.

For me the only issue was genuineness of the phone, I think the mail can be enough proof to tell that i bought the phone from him.

What say guys... & Sorry to anyone whom I may have offended..

TS: Ask a mod to change the thread title and lock the thread.

First, I would not, never have, and never will buy a used phone. I think it's simply unhygenic, let alone all other issues. That said, original boxes may or may not add to the value, depending on the product. For a phone, they are totally inconsequential. The bill is important, though I don't seem to remember mentioning it.
