Hi everyone,

I'm having an annual gathering in my college this week. One of the events that we'd be having is gonna be a fashion show. The theme would be Bridal Wear. I have been selected for an anchor. I havent done anchoring before, so I am nervous. :ashamed: Could anyone gimme a few pointers bout writing the script? :(

Any help would be appreciated. :)

the one tip i can give is to not look closely at people's faces to see their expressions. u'll get even more nervous then.

i had anchored once during my 12 std farewell party at college, and i used to stare at the back row, since i was nervous standing near the college principal and all other teachers and staff :ashamed:

but after 5 mins all the leg shivering and those other side effects like too much sweat on the brow disappear :ohyeah:

dont give it a thought - just do ur stuff well, no one will be any wiser.

abt the script, i cant give any since i'm a guy and don't fancy bridal wear :P
but u could do some research on the net, ask ur mom and friends or maybe talk to a dress designer.:)

anoder tip is make contact with the audience..dont worry if u think u suck at it....the critics in audience wud suck evenmore....btw dont try to visualise the audience as individuals...see them as a big blurry mass of ppl this way u tend to worry less abt facial expression of ppl who hate ya or see to do so...

anoder pointer wud be to addin theright amt of humour...believe me the audience responds very well and even turns forgiving to minor issues...

and finnally the ability to speak even wen u are making mistakes....even grammatical ones..go with the flow..
also if there is anodere compere on stage u might wanna start little talks with them on stage..try to make the audience feel at home

Another one (and I am serious) ....just watch some channel like India TV (hindi) ....watch the kind of anchors they have and you'll feel a lot better. These are really lousy people with unbelievably sick content, and if they are good enough for national Telivision ....You know you're times better........

And just focus on the positives, don't even think of "what could go wrong" .....rehearse enough....and you'll be fine.

talk about things in ways everyone can relate to, don't make things too complicated, easier and simpler to understand is always better.... it also easier to memorize ;) You will find people are more likely to remember what you have to say, if it's not too complicated.

Well even Lincoln used to get nervous before his speeches so you are certainly not alone. Everyone gets nervous the first time. :)

Just practice once looking at yourself in the mirror or in front of your friends. On the D-Day if its a raised platform, you can look straight and speak. This way you won't see any miscreants while still knowing that there are people there. Its usually the first minute that matters anyway. Once you have spoken for first minute, your nervousness will go away.

And about that adding humor part, i would say avoid it unless its genuinely funny and you have a knack for making it so. I have seen people speak a great one liner only the audience is clueless and wondering what happened

Dont pay attention to the utter confusion that will be around you...
take the script with you, its always better.use innovative ways to disguise it..
