Yes you are right. My dad, me and my wife all are idiots and stupid and have no idea what to buy. We were thoroughly mesmerized seeing the marketing from Apple and just threw the money to buy their iDevices. Damn i am still in some iOS Trance mode and i am pretty sure apple has some sort of hifi technology which hypnotizes people like me to buy their devices.
Please someone get me out of this hypnosis.

Pat will never say anything bad about iOs :D

The iPad situation is definitely not a 80-20 picture like the smartphone picture.

Oh and about that 80-20, it comes with its own pros & cons.

M$ & Apple app writers don't have to deal with fragmentation.

Maybe, or its just that they have become a bit too boring. Noobs do participate in them every now and then.
Everyone has settled with their own choices really and each one appreciates each OS as per their use. The point has come when even OS's have become subjective and each is better for different needs.

yeah thats also a possibility though I highly doubt it...the same people will post glowing recommendations and try to sabotage any new users who want to adopt android...so they are more opportunistic instead of matured

I can't stop laughing when I see this iOS vs Android topics! Two garbage OS and all the kids are chattering against each other, love it.
Unfortunately I'm a user of one of them, lol, because there isn't a better one for my needs, how pathetic!
 
I am not a fan of either of the OSes but find it strange when iOS people talk about fragmentation. Seriously?! So what next? Macintosh is better than Windows because........fragmentation? People still run XP, others on Vista, Windows 7 and now Win 8 - that too no small amount of changes.
Yes, iOs has better dev support, better ecosystem...and no fragmentation cause they don't license it.
 
But don't you worry guys, help from Mr. President (USA) is on the way, hard bent on protecting iOS:
In an unexpected move, the Obama administration vetoed an earlier ruling by the U.S. International Trade Commission that would have resulted in a sales ban of some older Apple devices.
That ban, set to formally begin Monday, was decided in early June after Samsung accused Apple of infringing on its patents. The president had 60 days to review the decision and intervene, something that hadn't happened with an ITC decision since 1987.

It was a FRAND standards essential patent anyway, which are usually up for licensing at a very low cost. If people start asking for bans for such, then no product can innovate. Nokia and Motorola can actually have all mobile products banned with their extensive FRAND portfolio.
