When Google announced Android 4.1 Jelly Bean , it also introduced a new feature called Smart App updates for the applications downloaded from Play Store .Now, the Smart App updates feature has been activated for App updates .

Previously , when getting an updated version of App , Play Store used to download full new package which was as big as the App itself and this wasted time and bandwidth . With Smart App Updates , the downloads are only about one third in size containing incremental data , which means much lesser time required to update apps .

The Smart App Updates is being used for some apps already on the Play Store .

i am waiting for my official Jellybean update to roll out on S3 but this feature is already implemented in last ICS update which was rolled out a few weeks ago. so no more huge updates but only necessary data needed to update an app.

Just a few minutes back updated instagram app got installed in 8-10 seconds flat had it been full update it would have taken a few minutes.

thank god Smart App updates will help in saving the phone memory and band width
as previously while i update a app it took a lot of time and bandwidth was consumed more..!!
