Android phone under 11k

freeze

Disciple
This is what i'm looking for in my phone

- Wifi

- Flash support

- A Good Display

- Compact Form

- High speed internet 3g support

- latest android gingerbread on board preferably

- A decent battery which should last me at least a day

- Smooth browsing performance

- i know i cant expect much out of the budget ~ a cpu of about 600 mhz preferably with adreno just in case

- Good multitasking capabilities (i might end up using more than 2 apps at the same time)

- a well laid out UI

what i'll be using my phone for mostly apart from the obvious

- Internet

- music

- apps (reader, and other internet based apps like gtalk, facebook, twitter etc)

- casual photo taking

What i really dont care

- Video capturing(if its decent enough, its good enough)

- it's gaming performance (wont be using the phone to game at all)

- GPS support, i know phones come along with this but people hardly come to use it.

What i've looked at so far and liked

HTC Explorer.

what's holding me on about this phone

HTC usually bundle their phones with batteries which aren't high rated, and this phone doesn't come with gorilla glass (i'm not the very caring gentle type) but i guess i cant ask for more

what i really like about this phone

bundles with android 2.3.5 and htc sense 3.5(latest)

that being said.. the UI is great... everyone says HTC android phones usually provides a fantastic UI experience, with sense 3.5 it gets it to a whole new level, (great on board browser)

If any of you have used this phone or/and have experienced something better than this phone please drop in a line. i can push the budget by another thousand bucks if its really worth it.

as far as makes are concerned

i'd like to stick to Samsung, HTC and LG

but if given a choice i'd prefer HTC or samsung

thanks

Go for the Explorer in your budget. Pretty compact and the Sense UI 3.5 looks cool and also UI is pretty smooth too.

The only other decent alternative in your budget is the LG Net P690 ~ 10k (9k after discounts)

The other alternative is the SE XPeria Mini ~11.4k from letsbuy after discount Buy Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini ST15i - (Black) at Best Price in India - Also find Specifications, Photos, Features & Reviews

But few of the Minis was suffered from heating issues(global h/w issue) Not sure whether it has been resolved in the latest batches. Wait for some Mini user to comment on the same.

HTC wildfire is good, but its UI wont be as good as the explorer. The processor and amount of RAM is lower than the explorer

all this just makes the HTC explorer a stronger contender.

DarkAngel said SE isn't very good because of its heating problem.

LG Optimus ONE would be good, Its got decent 3.2 inch screen with 512 MB ram clocked @ 600Mhz stock, which can be overclocked to 729Mhz stable with custom kernels moreover its got official GB. Worth the price tag of Rs.7,740.

or LG Optimus NET.

I had almost finalized HTC explorer , but now just discovered LG Optimus NET P690 ...and it scores aboce HTC in 2 depts , Processor and Battery and Service Centers as well...if that is my concern at this point.....Moreover I thought it did not have Adreno GPU ....but it does.

HTC has 600mhz scorpion processor does that score eons over the ARM 11 based processors?? and P690 is going for about 0.7k cheaper....

any final thoughts ....my dilemma is exactly the same as that of Thread Started....i.e Android for less than 11k.

i just checked out some reviews

the phone doesnt support flash, and it looks like the only up about this phone is the addition 200mhz of processing speed.

i'd still like to know how scorpion stands up against arm 11. But i dont think i'll need a top notch processor as i wont game much

but this is a good consideration if i need to drop my budget a little more. gonna buy a phone by jan, will have to look around more. It's hard to decide :|

Ok Guys.....Purchase Update .

received the Explorer via Blue Dart This morning. Whatever is being said in the reviews about the phone is partly true.

The Pros are the usual affair , but I will highlight some major ones

1) No lagg whatsoever with multi tasking/ Scrolling/Web Browsing although the boot up time is about 90 seconds to 2 mins.havent tried much gaming though

2) The audio output is quite good even with thr stock player.....My 3rd gen ipod sounded no different ..so thats a thumbs up.

3) Screen resolution and Build Quality seems sturdy .

Cons:

1) Poor poor camera under dim or dark lighting......under good lighting the photos are acceptable ( no dedicated key for click either)

2) Screen Size is small ( this is not a con of the phone, rather a known disability which I should have been expecting ) , I realize it all the more with my xxl hands.

3) Great speeds on Wifi ...I had my Mi 410 before this, but not sure whats the reason, but pages load in a snap in this.

The phone is worth what you are shelling for it. Even with 600 meg processor , what you are shooting for is a Great Experience ....if you are not too picky about the screen size and cam ...its good to go in the price range for upto 12k...beyond that there is Galaxy Ace and Wildfire S.......

I dont have patience nor the Android expertise to write a detailed review however Any specific questions....let me by PM or mail @ akitosforever@gmail.com

Cheers,

Me

You should buy Samsung Galaxy Fit S5670 @ Rs 8750

You can also select

Karbonn A 1

Spice Mi-310

Spice Mi-270

Motorola Fire XT311

Seriously FAIL!

Fit for 8750 is the biggest fail, Karbonn is a lot better than that, but its a cheap brand, I would buy the fit(even though its bad) cause of respect in the society. Dell XCD35 @ 7650 on lets buy is the best phone u can get for the money. 800x480 res, 3.5" screen, 600mhz, 512 ram and rom, Nothing can match it at that price. Even some higher priced models like fit look and feel really crappy.

But the page at Letsbuy shows the price as Rs.8499 (with a massive discount of 7250 from the MRP of 15749)??
