I read the following article in a blog post. Thought I should share this here.
[h=1]Stop AirPush Star/plus sign ads in Android notification bar[/h]
Getting those ‘Star’ and ‘Plus’ sign ads on your Android notification bar? You aren’t alone. This the latest method employed by some app publishers to earn more from their apps. Advertising networks such as ‘Air Push’ offer these kind of ad services where an ad will be pushed to a users’ notification bar. You can tap on the notification, like any other notification, and it will take you to the web page being advertised.
If it’s as simple as that, it might not be a problem. But lately, some subscription type ads started appearing. Once you click on these, you’re sure to lose some money from your prepaid balance every day/week/month, even without your knowledge.
While there is no way to stop these ads from appearing, you can check which apps are using this type of ad delivery and then consider uninstalling the app.
From the Android market, install the app ‘AirPush Detector’, by Dan Bjorge, which will identify all the apps that use this service.
Has anybody tried this Airpush detector app?
