Hi,

Dont know what you call this feature which was just added, but its a pain rather than a help.

Reasons:

1. While scrolling down a page, it comes to this new window n starts scrolling down it.....n u have to change mouse position to continue :P

2. MAJOR GRIPE: from the thread listing page, its no longer possible to jump into the last page of a thread you try to view. This was one hell of a helpful feature!!! :hap5: Now everytime we need to go into the first page and then jump to the last page of the thread. :ashamed:

Suggestion: Keep the new post lists (that correct? ;) )box if required, but at the main thread listing page (i refer to page like PC peripherals), allow users to jump to the last page of the thread if they dont want to begin from 1.

Hope i wasnt too confusing. Me dont know much bout forum/thread terminology......

1st problem is non existent here and i am still able to directly jump to the last page / post by clicking the last post symbol.

I couldn't understand your first problem. About the second, take a look at this pic -

Clicking on those small icons will take you to the last post of that thread.

congrats :)

you are the first person to notice it 1 month after i implemented it :) The last post has been removed from "guest view" deliberately. It basically adds one more url to an existing thread creating duplicate content. Since the guests usually arrive via natural traffic, they don't notice it. The simplest thing you can do is to login and just browse as a member where that feature is not disabled.

(on the topic, as a guest there are lots of things done for better search engine optimization which may not be very good for members, so if you are here, login, don't browse as guest.)

The scrolling can be caused by an oversized image. I don't think that effects 99.99% of pages. Its done to stop images from screwing the page layout.

It can also be caused (rarely) by a google ad.

Apple Singhji- i noticed it too few weeks back. :)
I had just signed out for the night and needed to search some post- thats when i realised- uh oh- no last post button. :P

But ever since i moved into the new default skin and have no option to sign -in back to the same page i was viewing, i have stopped browsing as a guest- something i did couple of times daily earlier. :P

This is OT post.

Carlito things Apple Singh is very uncool

Hmmm..probably cos i was signed in as a guest then :) usually dont login from office unless i have something to post ;) usually logged in as remember me from home.

Regarding 1. What i meant is that say ur on the lamington road price update topic first page (pc peripherals as an example :) )

Start scrolling down that page. As you move down, you hit the window/box which contains the listing of all the posts. When you hit that box, the mouse automatically starts scrolling inside the box and this breaks the flow. Thats what i meant. More noticeable on any thread with a large number of posts cos the scrolling of that box takes a helluva long time ;)

Is this explanatory? else i ll have to get a video or something to show what i mean :P

Also, the only problem with going to last post is that only the last post is visible there. It was better when we could just directly goto the last page instead and see the last few posts in the thread.

I think i know your problem. You are one of the very few users who selected the hybrid post display mode.

Rectify this by going to the top of the thread page
select display type
in that select "Linear Mode"

Alternatively
Go to usercp->Edit Options
scroll down to "Thread Display Mode"

and select the "linear newest first mode" (or oldest as you prefer")
These options are there basically for people who came via newsgroups.(eg i used the option when i started using vbulletin coming from a newsgroup discussion groups)

I think this should fix it. :)

You can read more about display modes here: TechEnclave - FAQ: General Forum Usage

Yay..thx safin. issue solved :D
