Laptops Another Dell Xps thread....Confused

Hello people....

Well as the topic suggests...this is one more thread regarding the laptop buying confusion...

I am totally confused whether to buy the Dell XPS or get a Sager / Alienware...

I am more inclined towards the Sager because of is specs and price..but do not know whether it is value for money...I dont just the Bling factor..

Here's the Specs for the XPS 1530 that I have decided on ->

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor T8300 @ 2.4GHz, 3MB Cache, 800 MHz FSB

Genuine Windows Vista(TM) Home Premium - with AERO experience ( sux )

15.4" UltraSharp(TM) Widescreen WSXGA+ (1680x1050) TFT Display with TrueLife(TM)

[TY009] Tuxedo Black LCD display with Integrated 2.0 mega pixel web cam

3GB (1X1GB + 1X2GB) 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM

320GB SATA Hard Drive

256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) 8600M GT ( major concern with this card isnt it? ? )

Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED HD Audio Software

with 3 Years of Dell's "At home hammer break warranty" warranty..

and the rest is the regular config...

The price for this comes upto 82kz on the site and I am getting it for a very good price -> Rs 75kz inclusive of all... from a guy I know in Dell

So is it worth it??

Usage --> Mild Gaming @ LAN parties ( if I dont carry my pc :P ) / Office / Internet
 
1. If its 82k on the site, after discount it should be much less, like 70k or lesser. Check how much margin ur friend is making :P (just asking).

better than XPS M1530 as XPS still uses Centrino class procs nd old santa rosa platform!

whereas this HP notebook uses new Centrino2 class processors + 'Montevina' platform!!:hap2: :ohyeah:

I'd say go with HP! as it uses the latest board + 9600m GT with 512mb dedicated GDDR3 mem!!!:cool2: moreover u can upgrade the ram to 8GB that too DDR3!!!:hap2: :ohyeah:

nd cheaper than XPS!!:clap:

Just checked it out on the notebookreviews...its really a great buy..great performance with neat looks at a very affordable price....

HP Pavilion dv5t Review

Even Techtree gave it a 4star rating - Techtree.com India > Reviews > Mobile Computing > Notebooks > HP DV5-1015tx

The only 2 issues with this machine are :

Resolution is restricted , and
with 9600 Gt under the hood..it tends to consume more power and gets heated up..
I do not have any other doubts ...I am going in for the Hp Dv1015 tx :)

@ Ragz , its a no brainer re...Hp all the way :)

Gaming had to be good in Hp with Rahul Sood heading the Gaming Segment :)
