L lestat Inactive Contributor Oct 10, 2009 #3 Yes they are better then normal ide's or sata drives first of all they work on minimum 10 K RPM so faster Reads / Writes thats why they are used in Server's or SAN's. Currently SAS (Serial attached SCSI) drives are used more often.
