and BTW ,it is a very relaxing ride in Tbird.the butterfly handlebar sure helps.I had cruised for around 160kms on this bike - a 2006 model sometime back.AVL engine sure tends to get hot when in city conditions though.but Unit Construction engine(UCE) with no seperate gearbox will hopefully iron out all this?

and mileage for a 350cc TBTS is claimed at minimum 45kmpl ! that is sure miracle!

Yes, its the twinspark UCE model. I have heard that all old flaws have been worked out on though i dont really know what they were but i have read on the internet. This version was released in June-08.

The guy at the showroom told me, it will give 40+ kmplage easily. Enfield electra 4s has that unique kick in the sound that TBTS dont have as i am told. The guy told me that it can be achieved with minor mods and he will do it for free. But i took a test ride and the sound was GREAT for me. i would say there is too much of dhak dhak in ur bike and its quite loud too. I found TBTS perfect :tongue:
 
but I like my CI thumper more ;) good luck! running-in the bike - be careful with Royal Enfield motorcycles.dont rip it ,it will seize !try slow speeds with very light throttle.

Find an Aquila if you really like cruisers. Ride avenger, enticer etc and get the feel of these bikes. I've never found bullets comfortable for long rides. Thunderbird gets close but seats still suck
 
then waht about spares? reg aquila or comet250 etc? aquila is afaik limited availability.priced around 1.75 lakhs!

No more new aquilas in market. You can get one in about 1.20- 1.30 lakh. There is steady supply of spares. Break something special and you'll have to wait for 3-4 weeks. But build quality is way more solid than any other bike on Indian roads. Regular servicing will keep away the problems.

Most important thing when you look for a cruiser:

1. Comfortable seating

2. Something you can trust when on long rides.

Its true that not everyone can fix the bike if something breaks, but it has no problems like oil leak or frequent cable breaks. Gearbox is smoothest of all bikes i've ever tried.

And yeah....rip it over 130...it does not siege ;)

I didn't take one because I'm not sure how long I'll be here. But yes...anyday I'll choose a 20k kms done Aquila @ 1.20 over brand new TB @ 1.07

dude...how many rides have you done? I have been riding(long rides) on all kind of bikes for past 8 years. On all stock seatings nothing beats aquila, enticer comes next. Everything else sucks.

50 km down the road and you want to stop...not to enjoy the view but coz you have ironbutts. Just because bullet makes you look cool OR makes you part of a cult...doesnt put it on top.

Modification: Yes, I've thought about it. Visited Vardenchi guys to get my kind of stuff....A good modification will cost me over 20k. and am not talking about stupid bike cruise scene which means extended front forks and modified swing arms. Wild mod jobs do not make a cruiser. It just gives a finishing touch.

I can add that 20k to TB price and get a way better performer.

I know bikes, tried and tested. Dont need auto mags for it, go out and try it out firsthand.
 
I love my Bullet.it is gonna give you a satisfaction ,if you know that we had all those brit bikes until 3 decades ago.triumph ,norton,matchless,bsa all of `em were here.my bull mech remembers repairing these sort of bikes common during circa 76-77 .

and bullet is not that problematic(saying esp about electra models) ,but sure needs more care.and it is not hefty as some wrong notion spreads.

at 1 lakh TBTS is a good buy.but still ,it got the all aluminium alloy UCE engine with long stroke classic based engine.people recommends adding 2T oil in very small quantity to mix with the petrol for preventing over heating ,engine seize prevention.

hehhe..this is called a gengap in cyberspace..where everyone thinks that other is a kid trying to be cool...i totally understand ur plight..

but yea abt the trips..

1. Blore - TVm in 2004 on a 98 Bullet 350. stock. my first long ride

2. chennai-tvm in 2006 on a 98 Bullet 350. new shocks.special pillion seat. still stock.

2. Tvm - Hyderabad (Ramoji for the last ridermania)-TVM on a 2002 bullet 500 this year matey.my first rider mania. but didnt attend the full event due to my bros accident that midnight.. :( ...

and numerous less than 500 kms trips.. to various places in kerala..some cousins are also hog lovers like me.. and studying engg in tvm..always mean weekends to ponmudi.a hill station near tvm..munnar..a nice place..and ofcourse kanyakumari.. during 2003 - till now..have only some pics to prove all this...other than that just my word.

oh yeah..my mentor.. my hog lover bro ..now in chennai... who did 2 trips to Leh... first one dropped on about 400 kms from leh... due to medical issues... second one completed last year...:cool2:

so yea bro..i know something abt bikes.sorry.yea being a p200 owner too.i can pretty much say for sure..enticer is not reliable for long trips.but know nothing abt aquila..

tell me something...what would you say about seating? I dont mean the posture. I mean the seat itself. Ride enticer for 50kms and then ride a bullet for 50kms, you'll know what I mean by comfortable ride.

On pulsar style bikes, my shoulders start hurting after 150kms or so...

What i hate the points Bullet lovers make when suggesting a bike:

1. No one talks about how comfortable the ride was?

2. Everyone dodges the questions on Oil leak

(at best they say its part of the package)

Most of them actually have reasons like:

1. Looks cool. People look at you when you pass by(no doubt about it)

2. My friend took it...its awesome

3. Oh yeah! Not to forget the thump.

Simple thing is, when you look for long rides a ...there is not much choice than Enfield. So it being classic or brit has nothing to do with being good. we all know it is a second grade product.

True..enticer has a damn good seat...i have some pals who swear by it.. and i agree...the seat is good..but as u say..its not abt just the 50km..its a very..very short ride IMHO...a cruiser have to be a very good reliable bike..

in that case..if i am given a option between a bajaj and a enfield...i would pick enfield..so would thousands of bikers in india..as u clearly know...

comfy between... enticer and bullet.. be it 350 or 500... i still say bullet..

actually what ur saying is correct... on a nice roads... on bad roads and uneven surfaces..bullet leads the roost..thats why bullet is still king...

Oil leak.. ah classic...the one thing everyone who doesnt know much abt the bike like to throw...:) ...actually there are lots of other flaws too...i have seen lots of common flaws in bullets...like spark plug issues...the chain slack..the rear shock getting some kinda stuck... lots.. but u see in a ride ..or before going to a proper ride..we have to do all these checkups..i did.. so imagine the serious bikers...they are like doctors... so yea its all in the package..

and the rest are all true too..:clap:

and my p200 is my city bike...for that its good enuff for me..

True.. if its a ride where u get even roads or a highway cruise .. a enticer may cut.. but for some mud plugging-dirt biting-snow sliding-road easy trips.. u need the thumper...no competition...:hap2:
 
U r correct. Infact Enticer is the most comfortable bike in india prolly after Aquila but Aquila's price is too much and Enticer is too light.... hence thunderbird with custom seat fits the bill perfectly :hap2:

I rode for 4500kms (Rajasthan & Gujarat tour) in 15 days on my Machismo 350 this year. No seating posture/health or bike problems at all. You'll find pics in my Orkut album.

I recommend nothing but a Bull. But than, I ride nothing but a Bull.
 
I went for a 500kms trip(total kms) day before yesterday with my bullet electra 4s.no ironbutts or monkeybutts as they say. ;) .much more comfortable and relaxed drive. unlike the common notion that bull is a trouble maker(for new generation boys) ,JFYI ,I rode the bull without taking coffee break for the 200 kms trip.I simply dont want to stop-thats the reason :D
