The transcend player seems to be pretty good...but i'd be happy if i could get one without the usb cable and stuff...

But from any of the better brands like transcend.
I'd be using this to transfer a lot of data...i'd be happy if i don't have the hassle of installing drivers and stuff in every computer i want to use...that is one reason why i don't want something like the shuffle...

You can try these from Transcend - T sonic T310. Even cheaper than the T sonic T610, but it lacks a display.
