I need an alternative browser to opera. Specifically, similar to opera's offline mode where it saves bandwidth and serves low quality images from its server. The last two opera versions are bad and keep crashing suddenly when browsing. I think I had used uc browser or something like that but the page rendering was all messed up. It didn't support CSS styles at all.

@raksrules, that was the first I tried. Was using a previous version for more than a month. All this time, it was behaving OK. But in previous few days it would just close suddenly and a app failure message comes and disappears.

@ayanavish, thanks for the links.
I already installed Chrome now. It has some data saving feature in bandwidth management. Will try that for a few days.

Many good browsers are there: Maxthon, Next, Boat, etc. The lightest I found was: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.powerpoint45.lucidbrowser
How about naked browser ?

Been playing with it for the last few days and its very quick. Best thing i like about it is when you reopen the browser it restores your tabs and does not try to refresh them unless you want to. Every browser i've seen by default will refresh them and i have to stop it tab by tab.

Very configurable too, reminds me of opera in some ways with light footprint. Interface is a little basic but just read the instructions in the playstore description and you should be good.

Naked is fast too, with a bad UI, but too many FCs for my liking especially opening an image heavy website. Best part about NB is the amount of memory used, it got to be one of the lightest.

The trick with the memory is it only caches 5 tabs (configurable). So far its holding on image sites, maybe some more testing. The UI looks crude but its functional. Never really used chrome much as it was forced on me on the desktop after opera closed. Never really recovered from that loss. So i see block images or javascript and i just know browsing at 50-100 kbs is possible.

Anything but chrome so i used the stock browser but can never figure out how to go forward. Or see history within a tab, all these things you take for granted on a pc.
