Very quick question for any users on BSNL VDS 16mbps or 24 mbps plan
I am replacing my Airtel 4g connection with BSNL
Expecting to get the connection by Tuesday
Can any of you please tell me the modem details (Brand/model#/chipset details if available) for the connection?

The reason I ask is I need to replace my old DSL model and intend to place an order online today so that I can get the new modem by Tuesday
Technical Information on the VDSL plans by BSNL is hard to get on the net - When I spoke to the franchisee, he said that a regular ADSL2+ modem (e,g D Link 2520U ) works quite well for their VDSL plans
However the BSNL site seems to suggest that the modem for VDSL is different from regular ADSL modems (http://www.bsnlteleservices.com/2014/03/bsnl-adsl-vdsl-modem-rental-charges.html )

VDSL modem is required for BSNL VDSL. Check price with local BSNL office for outright purchase price of VDSL modem.

However uncertain about its quality. BSNL modem priced less than market VDSL modems.

I'm also interested in this connection but cant understand why BSNL is trying to promote VDSL through these plans ? Surely modem prices are out of reach of regular user and that's a major minus.

The same speed could be offered through ADSL and majority users already own ADSL modems. Its really perplexing.

Also the distance between exchange and CPE is a constraint and recommended at 1km or less.
