So I was looking for some cheap accommodation in Mumbai for my visit later this month, and I stumbled upon this site: Hotels.com - Hotel rooms with reviews. Discounts and Deals on 85,000 hotels worldwide
I am looking for a double room for 3 nights, somewhere close to Andheri area. Budget is a little tight, and I'm hoping to spend not more than 1.5k per night for the room. Though most sites showed either rooms beyond my budget or rooms very far away from Andheri, I found hotels.com to give me some really good deals. I am able to find a couple of very decent looking hotels (Hotel Arma Court and Hotel Arma Residency) at 1.2k to 1.3k plus taxes range and that too within Andheri/Sakinaka area. The actual hotel website quotes a much higher tariff.

I would like to know if someone has any previous experience of booking through hotels.com site. If yes, can you share your experiences here..? Is there any catch?

Are there any other decent options in my budget, somewhere close to Andheri..? I'm willing to travel a little by local trains if I get a decent accommodation. I'll be travelling with my significant other, so please suggest accordingly.

I haven't used hotels.com, but I frequently do book from travelguru, they usually have some offer or the other going on; currently I think it is flat 25% off. Also, the rates mentioned by these websites will be lesser than the hotels because they get these prices based on certain minimum number of bookings they guarantee every month.

Also, do look for this particular hotel on travelguru, there is a deal going on. Prices seem to be better than what you have mentioned.

Arma Court: 4831 for 3 nights
Arma Residency: 4110 for 3 nights

Both inclusive of taxes, don't include breakfast. I assumed the dates to be 16th to 19th

Re: Any experience with hotels.com and info about accommodation in Mumbai

Forgot all about travelguru..! Thanks for reminding. It seems to be better than hotels.com.
Anyone has any idea about the quality of these two hotels..?

1.5k @ andheri would be a hourly basis hotel :P , take care and ask some friends here or somewhere to check it out before booking , or just do a phone booking then go around checking them out there yourself

i was just about suggesting youth hostels then i read about significant half , you have to increase your budget on stay dude or you will end up in shady joints

The hotel's website suggests otherwise..: Welcome To Arma Hotel
Pretty decent looking, and though the cost in hotels.com or travelguru.com is less than 1.5K, the actual room costs are more than 2.2K. Reviews too look good on most sites. I'll try to find more info from some friends over there.

I have used hotels.com for my China Trip in April. They are very reliable. Infact, hotels.com is a concern of expedia.com. I've used expedia.com for my trip to China this month. Again, the experience was hassle free and the hotel prices were the best I could find online. In most cases, hotels.com and expedia.com have the same prices.

I have done a successful booking on hotels.com for Holiday Inn, Sharjah. The deal was good and the hotel reservation was prompt.

The only catch was, that when I used my credit card, the site did not ask me for my credit verification password, which is mandatory for all online transactions. So just watch that loophole.

i read some reviews on tripadvisor last year had pretty dismaying reviews of blood stained sheets on it , you can infer how that got there
