Any USB-operating app for formatting hard drives?

My computer is in eleven different levels of shit right now. I need to completely erase my hard disk, and then install Ubuntu or Fedora on it. Trouble is, cannot access the GParted Utility on Ubuntu, don't have the windows 7 setups with me on DVD/ Pendrive and don't have any tool on CD for formatting hard drives. So any app that I can run on a USB Pendrive so that I can boot my PC via that and format my hard drive?

Download Hiren's BootCD iso and boot the iso from USB using MultiBoot USB.

You can try using GParted/Data Shredder 1.0/HDD Erase 4.0/WDClear 1.30 tool available in it for erasing hard-disk.

You can also try standalone GParted Live for USB.
