Is there Any way to start Sony Ericsson w800i without SIM card ? I know that the music function only works without sim or without booting the phone (completely) but I want to start it completely. I need to use the radio function of the phone.
I tried some very old sim cards I found in my home but probably they have been deactivated long ago and I still get message as "Insert SIM" every time I try booting the phone with deactivated sim or no sim at all.
Any workaround ?

flight mode should do.

reset the phone and choose flight mode.
How exactly ?
The only thing I know is that when I start I get options as "Start Phone" and "Music". The former option immediately gives me "Insert SIM" message on the screen and does not allow me anything to do. The music option is as good as useless as it allows access only to music files. Also this phone does not have a separate airplane mode like android and iOS phones.

AFAIK, the radio should not work under flight mode. Since it uses the cellular radio chip to get the FM signal (FM->IF and all that stuff)

Would suggest to use any old sim, these should work. Try cleaning the contacts.

Theres no trick for this and I suggest you don't go looking for one as it would be a waste of time. Instead just ask your friends for an inactive SIM or just buy a cheap SIM from any company for 100bucks+.

You can even use the SIM for some calling or free messaging (if it came with it) here and there. Just deactivate the SIM when you're done with it and enjoy the phone.

search for "work without sim card.vkp" patch for your w800 firmware. and apply it using xs++
Yup had planned on that only to install a .vkp patch but just found a docomo SIM card with which the phone worked. But yes that patch application was always on cards. Thanks for the patch name.
