Mac OS Anybody here tried installing Snow Leopard on a Corei3 ?

Level G
Hey Guys,

I actually didn't tried it or googled it but I would like to install OSX on my Dell Inspiron 1564 which is Core i3 Based with intel HD graphics. I already have OSX on my Desktop which is a C2D with a ATI HD 4870 and is working like a charm but i really really(yes twice) wanted to have Leapord on my Dell.

Not that i don't like Win 7 but there are a lot of things(iLife) which Windows doesn't have and I would really like to have a dual boot between the two on my lappy. If anybody here has already done it then I would give this small little project a try on my off day.

Let me know if anybody has tried it on the exact same laptop and also what would be devices which wont be working. Ideally I would like the major 4(Wifi,Sound,Graphics,USB) to work "flawlessly".

TIA

If it is non-sandy bridge i3, Intel HD graphics might not work. For sandy-bridge i3, it should work.

Try iBoot + Multibeast method & apply the newest combo-update. If you're lucky it would work.

Nops its not the Sandy bridge i3. Its the older version. Apart from the graphics how difficult would it be to make the Wifi to work. Don't wanna uninstall/format the lappy "just to try" :(. Let me google a bit. Might throw up something.

thing is those insanelymac and tonymac forum were never helpful to me. No one bothered to reply me their. Later I tried myself after lots of trials and errors, I got it working. It is just awesome now :D

As paul said, try iBoot + Multibeast method. Or try Nawcom, that also works. Next trial should be installing from USB / external HDD [needs access to Mac which you already have]. If none works, then last try should be distros, Hazards, iAtkOS, iPortable, iDeneb etc. All the best :hap2:

well i got a simple tutorial based on my hardware and since its s a laptop i told him to try that .. else you have the IRC I got help on IRC pretty fast . And distros AFAIK dont work now...they used to work with P45 and old chipsets

well iDeneb worked for my 965 way back .But since MAC has introduced intel its line up, custom distros are no longer need for i Series anymore I never said they dont work :P .

While we are on this. My spec are in my signature and I want to run OSX real bad for coding purpose. But the iAtkos dvd doesnt bootup as I have no graphics card. Please recommend me the cheapest possible gfx card to get OSX running on my PC.

Get 8600GT. Works flawlessly in SL.

Some guy in market section is selling the same for around 1k.

Retail DVD +iBoot multibeast worked in multiboot with Win7 on my i5 760 + P55A-UD3R + ATI 5770. There are minor glitches in getting shutdown/reboot and RTC to work so i finally gave up. Using only Win 7 now.

Edit: As a rule Nvidia graphics work better in OSX so i'd recommend a GF 9xxx or 240 as the cheapest solution.
