Anybody running openwrt

Hi,

For people running openwrt on their router I wanted to know what modem you are using.
I am on the lookout for a modem (with bsnl) to use as bridged with my openwrt router.

Check the other post where you quoted me. Modem does not depend on whether you have stick, openwrt or DDWRT installed.
 
Sorry the question wasn't very clear. The router firmware ofcourse doesn't matter. I was more interested in the modem you were using since router/wireless part of the modem isn't necessary. I need to run the modem 24x7.
 
As I stated in the other thread.

Digisol DG-BG 1000 is what I am using now for MTNL, it detects settings and ISPs automatically. Since Digisol is an Indian company.

I have used tp link 8817/8816 and dlink 2520u.

Both are good. TP Link modems and routers have better interface, longer warranty and better replacement policy.
 
Does digisol get hot running the modem?
I am running a netgear dg834g on which I have attached a fan since it gets hot. It is pretty old though and was wondering whether new devices work cooler.

Nope, no heating.

Heating if any is minimal, negligible.

Keep away from sunlight and everything will be fine

Also the digisol model I mentioned is compact. Way smaller than the TP LINK and dlink ones. Occupies less space.
