Anyone ever complained about telemarketers ?

Heard one should not get such calls if on DND. Daily i get calls asking me to renew my car insurance 3 month before it even lapses. I tell them im getting better quote on policybazaar they rudely cut call. I heard one can get a 5000rs fine imposed on these telemarketers. anyone experienced doing so ?

Your insurance expires daily? You have 365 separate insurances? What about the extra day on leap years?

yes im already on DND. Yes im getting calls daily for the same car insurance. i have one (1) car that is insured till oct end but they have started irritating me already.

i report them whenever i get such calls/SMS. frequency is quite low - 1 per month. but they still get reported.

small players don't bother but it hurts big businesses when their phone numbers get blocked. fine must be huge. that 5K is for numbers not registered as telemarketers. but for legitimate businesses, fine must be higher. i always get an apology SMS/call/email if a big one is reported violating DND policy. so, far i have taken back just one complaint. these big companies use their contact numbers, which are correctly registered as telemarketers, on various websites, business cards, pamphlets etc. so they really want to retain their numbers.

where do you report them ? should i record calls also for extra prooof?

^^ i report it to 1909, in the format mentioned on:

they'll send you a complaint number and also update you with the action they took. airtel is quite prompt in this regard.

also, you can use all those DND apps as well. they format the message for you.

no need to record the calls. i was never asked for any proofs though.
