All,

Linux Mint 9 "Isadora" got released a few days back.

Any of you tried it out? Is it better than Linux Mint 8 "Helena"? I am using Linux Mint 8 "Helena" in one of my machines. Is it advisable to upgrade or to have a fresh install in case the current version is better?

Thanks,

Gopi

If things are working fine and you're happy with your current system, then you don't need to upgrade. if it ain't broken, don't try to fix it.

^^ What ? Its not a driver , its a distro .

@ OP - Yes I am using it and it works fine , IIRC , boot time has been reduced in this release so it may be worthwhile to upgrade , but since i didnt use ver. 8 , cant be sure .

mint 9 has a few improvements- like its faster, has newer versions of software like firefox etc. I strongly suggest you update.

From distrowatch:

Linux Mint is an Ubuntu-based distribution whose goal is to provide a more complete out-of-the-box experience by including browser plugins, media codecs, support for DVD playback, Java and other components. It also adds a custom desktop and menus, several unique configuration tools, and a web-based package installation interface. Linux Mint is compatible with Ubuntu software repositories.

Means mint 9 is based on 10.04.

Worth upgrading.

i'm using in parallel with windows the linux ubuntu for some of the facilities it offers and i am pretty impressed of it ...thinking now to switch to mint 9 .....not sure yet ...is it worth the trouble ??? i mean are the improvements really making a difference ?
