I need to know the ampere rating on the +12V rail. On Mercury 450 W, it is 17A.

My new system rig will be:

1. Athlon64 3000+
2. Gigabyte K8N51GMF-9 OR Asus A8N-E
3. 512 MB DDR400 RAM (512 MB extra will be added in 3-4 months)
4. Seagate 200GB SATA 1 HDD (7200 rpm)
5. XFX Geforce 6600 PCI-e (256 MB)
6. BenQ DW-1640 DVD Writer
7. Creative Audigy2 ZS

Will this be enough. I can't find a better smps in my city, so I have no choice.

All those are inflated ratings! Better get a name brand psu.... atleast a powersafe. If you cant get anything else, use ur credit card and get a smart power 350 from theitdepot.com.

Yup, like chaos said, i dont think those are the actual ratings for that 600Rs SMPS.. Try for a better brand one like Powersafe or VIP or even Priya..

I think the cheapest of the lot suggested above is the Priya 400W which costs around 1000 Rs..

Go for Cooler Master eXtreme Power 430W Power Supply available for around Rs. 2800/-, really good for Gaming and in terms of Motherboard don't go for this Gigabyte Board, it's having stability problems and lacks performance. ASUS A8N-E will be a much better choice, or else you can try the MSI K8NGM2-IL Motherboard available for around Rs. 4500/- in New Delhi.

There is no iball 450W available in my place. I will be going with mercury for the time being. As long as my components don't get damage, I guess its ok.

Currently, I am using Frontech 300W smps (14A on the +12V rail) and my components haven't got damaged yet. AthlonXP 2000+, MSI KM2M combo (VIA 266), 256 MB DDR266, Seagate 80GB IDE(7200 rpm), LG DVD combo, CD-ROM Drive, Logitech Quickcam Express, MSI MX440SE(64 MB).

I will be getting Asus A8N-E mobo cause there is nothing else available except for a couple of MSI ones.
