I have looking for usenet as download option but need to know how good there file has check is and does it maxes download speed like in IDM or is it like torrent where some speed is wasted i know it depends upon the usenet providers also would like to know how does usenet handles the disconnection as in http a loss in internet results in failure of download as compared to p2p where it resumes.
1)the hash check is good, it does its work without trouble for any and every NZB that you have used
just make sure you get the NZB from a Good(read verified sources like FST, NZBSrus, Merlins Portal, GingaDaddy)
i for one verify the authenticity of Usenet downloaded content with the content available on private trackers (force recheck on uTorrent after download from Sabnzbd)
while the file integrity check is done by Quickpar (just click on any of the .par2 files)
2) about speeds
it depends on the provider you use
i.e. how many parallel connections your provider provides for you (in my case XSusenet free which saturates my 0.5Mbps connection with 2 connections)
if you want better speeds like 10-20 MBps you should take a look at Astraweb and or Giganews (both paid)
3)i download stuff from my old laptop and have the habit of shutting it down unceremoniously (disconnect power)
despite this Sabnzbd will always resume from where it left off
there is no data loss, no integrity recheck nothing
4)Due to so many advantages over P2P, usenet has become my primary source for getting everyday content
while i just use torrents to make buffer on private trackers using stuff i DLed from usenet
