So the winter is almost here and I am looking to replace my old Geyser with a new one. My basic requirement with a new Geyser is:

-Reliable
-ASS
-ABS Body so no shocks
-Saftey

Went out and checked the local market and I found this neat newly introduced AO Smith - EWS model which appears to fulfill all my needs and has some good features

A. O. Smith

Also it is reasonably priced at 7500/- for a 25L Geyser. The only query which I have is how good would be the ASS.

Is there anyone who is using this brand in India?

Not sure about this brand, but I usually go by the age old Indian brands in this regard. Have a Bajaj and Venus, and not had any problems in more than 5 years.

Being a dealer of various brands like Bajaj, Usha, AO Smith, Remson, and many many more, here's my verdict.

Pros:

1. Blue diamond glass tank layer: It almost removes the direct contact of water with the tank. This ensures higher purity of water, while keeping the tank safe from any reaction at the same time.

2. High pressure tank: Can handle high pressures (usual in high-rise apartments) and pressure pumps (used for bath panels). Weak tanks are leading cause of leaking tanks in other brands.

3. Glass coated element: Again, same benifits as glass coated tank.

4. Temperature control: Very handy, just set the temperature at 30-40c instead of the usual unchangeable 75c in geysers. This saves electricity, and water (one doesnt have to mix hot and cold water for minutes to get the right temp)

5. After sales service: Centralized, toll-free, quick action. They guarantee 24hr timeline and I've seen them well on time.

Cons:

Under test conditions when a geyser is run for 3 days continously, this geyser reported a consumption of 0.62kWh in 24hrs of second day (That means 40% saving = 4star). Some 5 star geysers reported 0.57kw (hence 5 star). Not really important.

Mainly these reasons seperate smith from the competition. Other features are listed on the EWS model - "leaflet". They indeed are key features.

PS: I'm not marketing. :|

Why not get a gas geyser..they cost INR 2500 approx ! and will cost only 300-400/month for a family of four depending upon usage.
