Hi,

I bought this UPS a month ago. In the Powerchute software it never shows backup time more than 5 mins. The load connected shows 200w.

According to APC specs it should provide at least 30 mins backup time for 200w.

But it shuts down the PC within 5 mins after a power cut.:(

Powerchute shows battery 100% charged. But when I do a self test it changes to 96%. The battery has been replaced once by APC. All this with charging the unit daily for > 14 hrs (during the night).

Meanwhile am awaiting the APC guy. Could someone who has this UPS model please share their experience & provide a screen grab of Powerchute indicating battery charge & the backup time.

Also am planning on buying Corsair VX450 or Glacial Power 650W. Have read that active PFC PSUs & simulated sine-wave UPS have problems. Could someone give their comments on this as well :hap2:

ive had the similar issue. they changed the whole ups in my case n the problem was fixed.

though i have tx750 n also the ups powerchute initially used to show 22 mins for 300W usage, it went down to 5-6 mins after a few months.

call them again.

@jahire2 open powerchute click "runtime" see if you have checked "preserve battery power"

This is my sad exp. with BR1000-IN:(:

I bought a APC backup UPS BR1000-IN on 18-07-2009 for Rs 7050 from delta pheripherals. It has been replaced like 4 times .The last replacement was done on 11-10-2009 on 12-10-2009 it popped this box

All the previous replacement gone bad shortly after this message popped up.So immediately booked a complaint an APC eng. Was sent to my home he checked all the wiring, earthings etc all are fine.He said everything is fine nothing to worry although he had no idea why the message pops up so he took apart the ups and checked for loose connections. On diwali all the front panel lights except the green light flashed with beeps again a new popup said this:

And the battery is gone no charge if the ups goes into battery mode even for a second APC crasheds my pc.I don’t k now what to do.Here is the config:

E2180

IP35-E

CORSAIR VX450

TRANSCEND 1X2 GB & 1 X 1 GB.

SAMSUNG 22X DVD WRITER.

SEAGATE 500GB HDD 32MB BUFFER

MSI HD4850

Now powerchute says its charging even after 12 hrs of charging i disconnected my 17 inch lg CRT this is what powerchute looks like right now:

The fifth replacement is on its way(The eng.called me today) this time they are again saying they will double check everything to make sure everything is ok .To tell the truth i am fed up with APC i am pretty sure this is gonna go on repeating for a few more months then my warranty will run out.If anyone here can save me please pour in your advice i am really desperate:(:ashamed:

Hi everyone, thanks for your replies.

The APC guy replaced the unit today. Was at office, will update if the problem is fixed.

Sam - 5 replacements, thats too bad. BTW the warranty is 2 yrs comprehensive so u should b covered.

Seems APC has outsourced its customer service to some other company. The guys who visit my place come from some UPS-battery company from Mhape(Turbhe- Navi Mumbai). Also am not really sure if the unit comes seal packed from the manufacturing facility. Maybe its assembled somewhere in andheri/bhiwandi :P, so the scope for mischief. There was a unit testing/status printout that came inside the box, dont accurately recall but had some local address on it.

Although aint sure of any of this. May b somebody well informed could tell more, retail chain management, et al.

mjumrani - So the UPS does work well with Active PFC PSU's. Thanks.

@Techie#1 - Its the same UPS the APC Back-UPS RS 1000VA ..... BR1000-IN
Guess 1 is the part number & other is the model num. Not sure which is which

well that is a lot of replacements, mostly something wrong with ur wiring or crappy power from ur power company.

i also have a replaced unit now...but the back up time is less than 7 minutes

my model is back ups rs 1100 (1.1kv)

apc site and booklet shows more hours back up time for my model but it gives only 5 mts ...I am also confused

apc 1.1kva ups is supposed to provide less backup time than 1kva one. you might have noticed this since 1kva unit is more expenisve. also it has lesser batteries and inferior cabling than the 1kva unit.

checked site
Typical Backup Time
at Half Load 12.1 minutes (330 Watts)
Typical Backup Time
at Full Load 2.9 minutes (660 Watts)

so it is running fine :D

and i don't know about cabling :ashamed:

Just wanted to add my 2 cents to this discussion,

I've been using windows 7 past 8 months on my RIG with BR-1000-IN & it was working fine until last 9 days when I reformatted & installed win 7 x64 (msdn) again. I have a logitech MX518 & so i downloaded the latest Setpoint 4.80 after which my PC w'd never be able to contact the UPS properly. I had not installed powerchute on win 7 till now & everything had worked flawless before the night I reformatted. Doing proper research & troubleshooting, I can 100% confirm that Logitech's Setpoint software has seriour issues with APC UPS with or without the powerchute installed.

if the powerchute was not installed, my PC w'd hibernate on voltage fluctuations since it c'd not communicate properly with the battery state.

When powerchute is installed, I got random messages like "sam000" mentioned, saying I need to reboot the PC to restablish communication with my UPS.

For the past 2 days I UN-INSTALLED setpoint & nothing is giving me a problem at all..

If I have faced such hardware level interference with this software, I'm sure this kind of problem can be on XP too!

So I urge all of you guyz here with logitech software installed to check such behaviour & report.....

i have noticed no conflict whatsoever between logitech set point and apc powerchute. have had apc ups since april. i also run win x64, have mx518 and also mx3200 cordless combo and i have reformatted my system many times just for the fun of it...

its gotta be something else man.
