Hey any APC UPS users facing any issues with the power button ?

The power button to switch on the UPS seems to be malfunctioning. After I switch off the UPS and go to work, sometimes when I come back, I find the UPS beeping and the LED glowing red. The button sometimes get stuck and I am not able to switch the UPS on or off.

Anyone having the same problem ?

its was the same for me :( , the button seems to be stuck everytime, do u have the no. of apc support, i would also like to replace mine

I am also facing same problem for my APC 650W!!! The button always gets stuck and I have to pick it using some pointed object. I didn't knew that they replace the whole unit for this... Thanks Shakensoul!!! Time to call those APC guyz...

@shakensoul- Please post back as an when you receive the replacement and whether it's a new or refurbished piece. I got my apc es-500 replaced the 4th time and got a refurbished piece each time :@ .

Lets see, if they send a refurbished unit, i might not take the replacement, i guess my present UPS will be in a better state that the refurbished.

Hmm.. Seems like a it happens in all 650VA ?
4dh1r, Mutant and Dare Devil,
How old is the UPS ?
Yeah, seems that all 650VA have faulty buttons... My UPS is around 8 months old. But the button used to get stuck since I had brought it... Just after seeing this thread I asked for a replacement!!!

Well, I got my UPS replaced with a refurbished piece within 2 days of lodging complaint. The replaced UPS has a nice bigger button that doesn't get stuck down.

By refurbished do you mean that the unit was a repaired one or it was only labelled refurbished ? Was the refurbished unit used ? They still haven't replaced my unit.

Oh, it was a repaired one. The guy just brought the UPS without any box or cables or CD... The button was different, so I think that it must have been repaired for a faulty button only...

The guy just came with a replacement, like you said no box, nothing, holding the UPS by the power cord :S

It was labeled refurb and I returned it, coz it was not in a good shape, scratches all over the body, battery compartment loose, only the power button was bigger. I guess my unit is in better condition than the replacement.

OK, I got the Back-UPS 500 model in mid 2005 and it failed, probably an electrical problem with the switch, and/or failed battery... it was just outside warranty period and I had to get a new one.

What I noticed was that the first one I got in mid 2005 was made in Singapore (came in a box with a colour picture of the unit) and had a smaller power button and it would go click click click when I had a power cut and my inverter would run.

The new one I got around end-2006 is made in India (came in a plain brown cardboard box with monochrome pic) and has a slightly bigger power button and doesnt click (seems to run smooth) when the inverter is running :)

Looks that I am lucky... :yahoo:

The replacement unit that he gave me didn't have any scratches (looked like absolutely new). It looked much better than my UPS. Also there was no label saying refurb on that UPS...
