PC Peripherals APC UPS gone with smoke

My apc backup ups 1100va as soon as i started gave some light inside and then smoke came out of the unit from behind..i had read about apc quality going down but smoke out of ups and ups bad that too 4 months out of warranty..have asked service person to come and check unit..does anyone has similar kind of experience with apc 1100va and is repaired ups good for use and what should be new ups if need to buy new one

did you get that repaired that time or brought new one?

my ups also smoked up sometime back :|
