Apple Announces New iPods

Apple today revamped its entire iPod lineup and introduced an old-yet-new model – the iPod touch. The new iPod touch is essentially an iPhone stripped of its GSM and phone capabilities.

The device features the same 3.5-inch screen as the iPhone with an 8mm thickness. Two memory capacities are available – 8GB and 16GB. Apple also employs the same multi-touch user interface as the iPhone in the new iPod touch, including Cover Flow.

The iPod touch retains the 802.11b/g Wi-Fi capabilities of the iPhone. Users can connect the iPod touch to home and public wireless networks. The iPod touch also features a couple of built in applications, as with the iPhone.

Basically, the new iPod Touch is everything the iPhone should have been. I think Apple just got greedy and decided to put GSM capabilities as well into the device, the previous time around.

I'm only a tad disappointed at the storage offered. 8 & 16 GB for an internet and multimedia device? Jesus Christ.

Anyhow, I'm quite impressed at the new Wireless iTunes Store service as well. Surprisingly no one's mentioned it over here. Then again, it isn't going to make a bit of a difference to any of us in India. We don't even have the regular itunes store service. With rampant piracy in our country of 1 Billion plus people, it's a stupid move by the "number one music store in the world".
 
Debating between a Classic 80gb and an iPhone..with the new $399 price tag and phones being unlocked it looks super super!!!
 
Ipod classic 80 gigs at the price of previous 30gigs one, gonna grab one as soon as it comes here :hap2: . Btw any idea on availability of these new generation ipods in india?
 
I think, I'll grab myself a iPod touch as soon as it gets available here!! But i dunno wat I gonna do with my 30gig iPod Video!!
 
I called the apple customer care service, they say that the ipod classic will be available in india in the first week of October.

That's cos they won't sell any in Europe or Asia otherwise.

The first version was US only.

28th of sept worldwide. Gonna cost 17k for 8gigs one and 20k for 16gigs one.

Yes in other countries its launching on 28th but in india there is always delay in launching new products.
