The Apple iPhone 5 has not even been announced yet by Apple and pre-orders for the highly anticipated device have already started in Chine .

Sellers on chinese website Taobao which is part of the Alibaba group , have put up the mockup images of iPhone 5 along with rumored specifications and offering pre-order for the device for prices well over $1000 .

Another seller , "Zhuji" on Taobao has listed the iPhone 5 for much more , asking $8600 .

According to Reuters , these sellers plan to purchase the iPhone 5 in the US or Hong Kong once it goes on sale and bring it to China .

Apple products , even though manufactured in China , are difficult to get hold there , so dealers try to make huge profit by importing and selling devices in grey market .

I believe the source if wrong in terms of pricing. It is NOT DOLLAR but RMB, the local chinese currency. The price is 8600 RMB which is like 75K INR.

raksrules, that makes logic else no one in china is going to pay $8600 USD for Apple no matter how great the phone may be.... and the image shows Apple iPhone 4S and not 5

Yep that may make some sense. But whatever that is it is abnormally overpriced.I would instead add few bucks more and get a mac book pro.

Dont know why people read stuff on enagadget and later make threads on TE

Instead of searching the whole web for important/interesting articles we like to read and discuss it all here and we thank them for sharing the News.
and btw its engadget and not enagadget :bleh:
