Apple Seeks Ban On Galaxy S III In USA

Apple has demanded a ban on Samsung Galaxy S III in the US defending its patents , saying the Galaxy S III infringes on its patents .

The injunction filed seeks to get the Galaxy S III pulled from the shelves before it hits the market , it is similar to the one filed against the Galaxy Nexus . The patent which Apple wants to defend is related to iPhone 4S's Siri .

One of the patent is "universal search technology" which is included with the iPhone 4S’s Siri . The patent in this case will be compared to the methods the Galaxy S III’s S-Voice companion app uses. Another patent includes the result of a long-press on links and text throughout the software opening a window with multiple actions available.

Another patent Apple is defending is about its "data tapping " feature, it includes a “system and method for performing an action on a structure in computer-generated data.” . Which means actions which can be performed on tapping numbers and addresses in text .
However, this feature is still present in some HTC products and few more Android devices .

Samsung will likely fight these claims in court and the results will likely arrive before the general launch of the Samsung device later this summer.

they should start working harder on building a better mobile rather than waiting for the competitors to raise the bar and trying to fight the petty cases tarnishing thier own image.
 
i've started ignoring all these patent news. everyday some or the other company or patent troll starts a new litigation.
 
They have already banned HTC One series in US and now going after S3.

They do have good products but banning someone just because of "similar" feature is pathetic. Someone should put an end to this patent mumbo jumbo.
 
Now apple is really scared of S3! I don't really think samsung will let their new phone to be banned in the US of A because it will easily surpass iPhone 4s.
 
Did anyone think of patenting breathing ? or maybe the round wheel?

I am sure there would be a pretty buck to be made there.
 
Samsung has said that its Galaxy S III smartphone will launch in the US, despite Apple's attempts to get it banned.
The fruity firm moved to tack the S III onto its preliminary injunction request against the Galaxy Nexus smartphone on Tuesday in its second California court lawsuit. A hearing on the Nexus is scheduled for today and Apple wants to talk about the S III as well.

Samsung said that the request was "without merit".

"We will vigorously oppose the request and demonstrate to the court that the Galaxy S III is innovative and distinctive," the firm said in an emailed statement.
"We would also like to assure consumers that the US launch and sales of the Galaxy S III will proceed as planned."
