Apple introduced new connector called Lightning with the new iPhone , 5th gen iPod Touch and 7th-gen iPod Nano , but again like previous 30 pin is not a standard connector such as micro-USB .
The European Commission insists that that manufacturers use standardized connectors based on micro USB for charging smartphones . To comply with the European Commission's insistance , Apple has released a micro-USB to Lightning connector which is being sold in the UK and French stores for £15 / €19 ($25) .
The workaround by Apple is still not as convenient and comes at a cost for customers .For customers in other countries , there is no sign of the connector in stores yet .
