GS stands for good start

Although some punters have criticized Apple for not offering a major aesthetic improvement over the previous version, iPhone 3G S sales seem to be doing just fine.

Cupertino has announced it has sold over one million units by Sunday, just three days after its official launch. Six million iPhone users have downloaded the new iPhone 3.0 in the five days since its release.

“Customers are voting and the iPhone is winning,†said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “With over 50,000 applications available from Apple’s revolutionary App Store, iPhone momentum is stronger than ever.â€

The new iPhone might not offer a major improvement in design, but it does offer much more under the bonnet than the predecessor, including a much faster processor and up to 32GB of storage.

We will review the new iPhone 3G S shortly, so stay tuned.

it would had crossed 5-6million mark if it was available in the open market @ reasonable price.

i would had purchased one rite away if it was available in the open market for price close to 25k !

If nokia can sell it's garbage for 35k why should apple sell the iphone for 25k ?

Some of the posts here are not even funny. It seems that iPhone anti-fanbois are posting crap on online forums every time they have to reboot their shiny new N97.

*sigh*

The 3GS is such a lame "upgrade" I don't even know where to begin. Don't get me wrong here: I still love the design and the fluidity of the OS, the way it was a game-changer when it appeared on the market, the sheer style of the device, and the fact that it was from Apple.

BUT what I don't like is:
- Apple dictating the rules; You can't multi-task and that means you can't listen to music while playing a game. I mean c'moon! This is like the Shuffle where they try to teach you that "life is random"; again, the Shuffle is wonderful product design but inherently flawed
- Features which have been around for years being touted as "upgrades" in the OS 3.0; SMS forwarding and MMS anyone?!?!
- How Google's Android with the Cupcake update is soooo much more advanced as an OS and more flexible as well; it has everything that anyone wants while being completely FREE

This is not a hate-Apple thread. I work in the business of brands and I can easily dissect the fact that if Apple did offer everything free and upgraded the iPhone to be compatible with everything and have all the features of a "normal" phone - it would no longer be "cool" or "cult".

The inherent flaws and imperfections coupled with the outstanding design is what builds the brand in an odd way. Damn you Apple. :)

(I won't be buying it. Picking up a white G1 very soon.)
