Apple to offer Contract Free phones from 26th March

According to gsmarena Apple will offer contract free phones from 26th March but still one has to get At&T sim only.

The downside is that these contract free phones will be available for 599/699 dollar for 8/16 GB models.

The price structure in India was always the cheapest.
In other countries though the people could buy it for a smaller amount initially, the call and data charges are exorbitant. If one calculates over the total period of the contract the total price there is much more than that in India. The calculation was done by GSMArena itself.

By the way, I think Airtel/APPLE is the cheaper option since even though they charge 2k more, they provide 500MB/month free data connection for the first 6 months(or was it 1 year? I forgot)
