Apple tv as media player?

Hi friends

I would like to purchase an apple tv preferably used one bcoz they are cheap.My question is that can i connect my NAS device to apple tv so that I can view nas device content through apple tv

Like any other media player out there.
 
With xbmc, you can use the ATV as a NAS device and stream content from the server.

But this device has its limitations. For instance, no 1080p support. For something worth 6-7k I am not sure if this is even worth it! If Apple fixes it in the next version which is due sometime soon, it may be worth it.

Hi u said that APTV doesn't support 1080p video its true also but may i ask u one question.

I want to buy a new LCD TV 32'' Probably from Toshiba bcoz on local shop i can get HD toshiba for 17k with 3yr warranty for panel.Okay i am going for HD bcoz even the DTH services are not providing true FULLHD content for all Chanel

So my question is can i play the 1080p videos especially which are downloaded from youtube on High definition Tv.
 
Not via ATV if i go for asus Asus O! Play HDP-R1 can i do that.And also what if i directly connected a usb drive to tv with 1080p video on it probably mp4 format in case direct connection.

Could u people suggest me one thing should i go for wired connection of NAS to media player or Wi Fi
 
First decide what exactly u want you keep on changing the options
