Well, This is what i found while going through iOS5 features and this seems really interesting. It may be a very good step by Apple to have finally bring something which Blackberry is famous for. iMessage, a similar concept to BBM but with an Apple tag and for Apple users only! So do you think this might really make a difference? As Blackberry has conquered the market with its BBM capabilities, do you think people will now root for Iphones to use the same iMessage?

May be yes because iMessage is not only for phones but also for iPad and iPod touch which is a good move by Apple.RIM is loosing market share fast and the company revenue is down this year.

This thread already exists to discuss about iOS 5 iOS 5 Out

I am basically focusing on the fact that many people buy BB just to use the BlackBerry Messenger! Now, how would they react to this when they see the same in some other device and will this affect the sales of BBs.

There is also one more app called Whatsapp which is cross platform and can work in Nokia, android, BB and iphone and that would be even better i guess.

PS: Never used this app.

Have used Whats app. Yup its cross platform but certainly not as fluid as IM (Short of apple's iMessenger). Have tried the beta. Also IM will come inbuilt with iOS 5 for free and you gotta pay for Whats app.

Whats App doesn't work on iPads or ipod touch and more over with iMessage its just only one app to install. It manages whether to send the text as a regular one via service provider or use 3G / Wifi.It pushes the same message to all devices the user has.

I've used Whatsapp with my Nokia 5800. Its free for a year but its utterly disappointing. There is no way to turn the damn thing off!!! Even when you close it from a task manager, it restarts automatically. It constantly connects to the internet. I had to remove my GPRS settings to make it stop. Also, it messes up your battery since it is constantly trying to get online. Uninstalled it after just 1 day of use.

Yes, exactly. As Shripad has said, its not as fluid and smooth as the others. I'd love to see what iMessage is all about once it is released! And will also keep a watch on the number of people shifting from Blackberry to Apple if its a hit!!

A task killer called 'KillMe' works on Whatsapp effectively. I've been using Whatsapp on my Nokia 5233 for over 4 months now and whenever I want to 'log out', I simply kill the application to save battery or data. Whatsapp is great for connecting with friends since it's cross-platform unlike BBM or Apple's new messenger.

Whatsapp does work with Ipod touch through wifi.

It does though *ahem* way but needs a mobile number to be given.I have one phone number which is tied to my whats app on iphone now if i want to use the same on my ipod touch it doesn't work.It works with either ipod touch or iphone but not both.

Whatsapp needs wifi/3G so does iMessage but from what i have read across blogs is that if there is no network it will use regular messages.

Whatsapp is a very good app but i am awaiting for iMessage which will ease out things
