If you have missed yesterday's WWDC conference, this is one of the major features from iOS18 and macOS Sequoia. The flow of AI related execution is this:
1. If you the computation can run on phone or laptop, it will run in a secure manner.
2. If the computation needs more power, it will be sent to Apple's private cloud compute infra. Only the data that need computation in that infra is passed and once computation is done, data is removed.
3. The handshake (from iPhone or Mac) happens only if the server is publicly logged for inspection.
4. Independent experts can check the software image of iPhone (not a snapshot of the iPhone but the image that is used to setup phone) to verify privacy claims. They can also verify the code that runs on the servers to verify if the privacy and security is as claimed by Apple.
