Well; I'm not sure if it's exactly partition resizing that I want..

I have one primary partition, C: and 3 logical drives on the extended partition D: E: F: ..

[Is that the way it's done in XP? Windows 98 fdisk used to take it that way: one primary, and others logical on the extended one.]

My system is installed on C: so I won't need to touch that.

So what I need is; this D: of mine is 40 GB with 24 GB free.
I want to create a new 20 GB drive out of it and name it G; without losing any data.

What are my options? Using Windows XP SP2.

norton partition magic??

but acronis is definitely lighter and your best bet since you dont want your data to be destroyed

^ Will Try. Thanks.

Guys, new situation:
If I have a C: with Windows XP installed; how can I create a new drive using the free space from C: without losing data?

Also my computer's C: is getting into a tight squeeze and I need to increase it's space. Can I add up space to it?

Most peacemax option: EASEUS Partition Manager Home Edition. Free, non-destructive, easy(ish) to use..

Just what I was looking for. Don't know if it will be reliable in the long run, but it got the job done quite nicely. [Their website sucks though, grammatical errors here and there.]

One stop solution for partition management.

This program does the job quite fast and in a simpler way without losing your data. I've been using this for XP, Vista and Windows Se7en.

Acronis Disk Director would be your best bet.

OR Partition Magic (I remember that worked on XP)

@bikalpapaudel- Make sure to add the extra space at the end of the partition.

Accomplished everything related to partition management and resizing with this little software. Not sure how reliable it will prove in the long run; but for now I'm going with it.

Thanks everyone.
