What would be the best application to make/burn DVD Video from an .avi file.

Im not talking about bloatware like nero and all.

I normally use image burn for burning. But this time I need to burn a DVD video for someone form an .avi file.

Please suggest the best solution that you use.

I am assuming u want to play that DVD in a DVD player eh? use imgburn, if the dvd player will read AVI it will play the discs, if it doesnot then the burner can;t do anything about it anyway. I do it many times.

Thanks Guys

@rockfella - :D Well, imgburn is all that anyone would need, however...I need to convert the .avi into a DVD vob file/files, so that it can play on ANYYY normal DVD PLAYER

thx mg and toxic..will look into it.

use nero 7/8/9, it has a program by name Nero Vision to create a DVD from not only avi files but also from other files. the dvd can also be edited with menus and music. Alternately you can try Ulead DVD Movie factory, it can also create dvd from avi files.

My assumption was right. U don't need to convert avi into VOB if the DVD player supports it. The latest DVD players can play avi. I give the same format to my friends and most of them are able to play the dvds on their players. True conversion will take time, VOB will degrade quality, it is utter waste of time. U can still proceed if u want the discs to play in ANY player though.

Only if the AVI file is DivX encoded.

Was not aware of this... however it worked with many friends of mine, only 1 person's player failed to read simple dvd burnt using imgburn.

+1 to ConvertXtoDvd

It can take anything you throw at it .mkv .rmvb etc . Very simple interface once you get the hang of it you can design the dvd menu in 2 minutes flat ,though the conversion itself may take around 1-2 hours same as Nero Vision i suppose .
Dont forget to set the encoding to PAL otherwise it wont play on Indian DVD players .
And you can get the help manual (pdf) from their site which is very useful for newbies .
