Hello,

I'm applying for GRE test. I don't know the exact way of applying for GRE. I tried to schedule my test on GRE's website but it is asking for Credit Card information to schedule the exam.
Anyone willing to help me?

Thanks,
Rahul.

yes CC is a must. What help are you looking for CC payment help or any other help related to information?

^ The problem is, I am getting message NO SEATS available for January 2012 - may 2012... I wanted to schedule my exam in February :(

^ Unfortunately, Every center showing same dates availability (Seats are available on Exact dates in Dec 2011 when I try to schedule my exam in every possible center in India). Maybe a problem with their website. How come every center has seats available on same dates?

Maybe it has something to do with scheduling an exam eight months in advance. Six seems to be their approximation of "np".

Exactly. They've no seats available throughout year 2012. This is simply impossible.

I think what he's trying to say is that you can schedule an exam for Feb. so soon.Try again in a month or so.

This is what I got -

No seats were found that match your request. Please choose a different month and click the 'Go' button or choose another test site that may offer more convenient appointment options.

Rahul the dates have not yet opened up,just keep checking. The same thing happened to me,just be on the lookout they will open up soon :)

^ Ohh thank god. I thought I'm too late. Where do they announce the dates if they're open?

I see, GRE exam pattern will be revised after August 2011. Is this beneficial for us? What you think?

People need to stop wondering if the new pattern will be beneficial or not, or 'easy' or not. It's ridiculous. The pattern doesn't change just for you, it does for everyone. So there's nothing to worry about :)

Sure, the people who're taking the test in August itself would feel somewhat like labrats, since they will have the least resources and hardly anyone to spell the experience out for them, but other than that, there's no reason to ponder over that :) You'll do just fine.

Testing blocks for GREs for January onwards in the next year open up in September. Meaning blocks for January 2012 will open in September.

As for the pattern change, don't sweat it, as there will be ways to score high even then. :)

All the best.

I am not worried about new pattern. I just wanted your view about new pattern. :) If I'm facing the new pattern everyone else will do the same. There's an equal chance for everyone.

What about the comparison between new pattern and the old one? I took once in old pattern and didn't get a great score. Planning to take it again in the new one.
How will they compare the old pattern takers with new pattern takers who apply for universities at the same time? :S

I'm not sure how, but they'll set a threshold for both patterns I guess.

Look here's the deal, when you apply to univs, the GRE and TOEFL score are checked at the first stage of the admission process, to filter out people. That's all they're used for.

If you have a decent enough score, then your application goes ahead.

Things that matter the most are LORs, SOPs and acads, in no order :-)
