how old are you rose? :cartman:

You don't waste anytime do you, straight to the point
Anyways, i would suggest you go for a XPS series laptop from Dell IMO XPS is the only series from dell which is worth buying and has a very good build quality.

Vostro series is a piece of crap, the only reason they sell is because dell has backed its line of computer with a very good ASS ( after sales support ).

Dude, seriously, a XPS / Macbook Pro are the only worthwhile options.

+1 to what Anish said, I haven't had occasion to use a Dell XPS series notebook in person, but I can say that the Macbook Pro beats every Dell/HP/Toshiba/Sony/Lenovo notebook in terms of sturdiness. There's simply nothing in the market to match its build quality. This is one product that Apple got every thing right. It comes pre-loaded with Mac OS X Leopard which from my personal experience is crappy except for the most casual usage, but you can always install Windows XP/Vista on it and switch between either OS.

Anyways, let me give you two bits of advice if you wanna go the Macbook Pro way.

1. Do not use the sleep mode with Mac OS X. Shutdown the laptop properly before transporting it. We have had quite a number of cases at office where the Mobo went bad because of extensive usage of the sleep mode.

2. Do not put this notebook on you lap if you hope to have kids in the future. :P
