PC Peripherals Are SATA2 HDD compatible with SATA1 Mobo

Just wanted to ask whether SATA2 HDDs are compatible with SATA1 Mobo? I read somewhere some time back that SATA2 Drives are not compatible with SATA1 Mobo but the SATA2 Mobo are compatible with SATA1 Drives. Is this true?

SATA 2 is backwards compatible IIRC and works on a SATA 1 port in SATA 1 mode. Waiting for more input on this.

yes sata 2 hard disks are backwards compatible and work on a SATA 1 mobo in SATA 1 mode.

yup....my board issata 1(it mentions 150mbps speed)....but i musing hitachi 250gb sata 2 drive....so in short its compatible.....

SATA II drives work with mobo's having SATA I ports...
