I believe almost ALL SSDs come with SATA support so that wont be a problem. Sourcing one in the first place might be :P

@ sTALKEr :- woooooooo thats way costly mane.......

what were you hoping for?

they'r pretty expensive internationally too. SSD's gonna take atleast another year, if not more before they come even close to regular acceptability

Even if one buys them can one be assured that data will not be lost?

^^ That is a myth.

SSD Myths and Legends - "write endurance" article in STORAGE search .com
TG Daily - Intel claims SSD superiority, tries to dispel myths

It was certainly true as little as a few years ago.

At another talk given by Intel Fellow Al Fazio, Intel touted SSDs longevity and tried to dispel the myth that SSDs wear out quickly. Fazio’s slides showed that the X-18/25 SSDs have a mean time before failure (MTBF) rating of 1.2 million hours, which is on par with modern server hard drives. In addition, he claimed that the drives can withstand a workload of 100 GB worth of writes a day for five years.

Also see this :
32GB @ 5k.

Much more than 1 year dude. (Maybe 2012 when world's supposed to end  ) The 80GB for 25k is ridiculous.

always felt SSD's will have more life time than HDD's due to lack of moving parts.then why this thing is not gaining acceptance fast.may be hdd corporations won't like this. :S

Agreed. My old HDDs are dead. I've personally had my two Raptors fail on me(just got my 2nd one from RMA) after about two and a half years and I've seen a lot of disk crashes overall in my years of experience.

If I consider flash as similar to SSDs, the no.of USB drive failures that I've seen so far are only 1(my cousin's transcend USB stick).

Besides, I'm really waiting for SSDs for reasons like, silent operation, lower power consumption, no defragmentation required and best of all, steady performance irrespective of whether the disk is full or not.

Hi ,

The Issue With SSD is That The Data Transfer Rate ,The Better The More Expensive The Solutions .I Would Be Interested To See How The Transcend Performs .
