Are there no decent 2.1's in the 5-10k Range?

Once upon a time we had the most bang for buck speakers in this price range, the logitech Z2300 and the AL MX 5021. and now we have the crappy Z623 and the FX6021 which are just shadows of their predecessors, and yet cost more. I know the edifier C3 is there, but that and the swans M10 just dont have the brute force or authority of these beasts. The irony is that while other computer peripherals have become better over time, speakers are the only peripherals degenerating.

Is there anything left considering, and in the same league as the MX 5021 etc?

I agree, speakers for audio performance have become very rare, its always extremely mediocre speakers sold in home theater setups for people with limited budgets.

Perhaps you have look for some studio monitors + sub setup..

i'm currently on a hunt for a decent set at around 5k... this thread doesn't make me feel too good about it.

thinking of getting the edifier hcs2330 c2+ or stretching for the c3 but waiting for inputs from members here

i dont want a lot of power but a pleasant listening experience after having suffered for years with my stock jbl speakers

Within 12K, i will ALWAYS choose Edifier S530.
