I'm watching thinkpads gain popularity and as a result their prices are increasing however dell lattitudes provide similar features and slightly worse build quality but a wayy better price for it??!
Review are thinkpads still better than dell lattitude??!

I cannot say about the latest generation of ThinkPads, but in general, the slightly worse build-quality hides all manners of crime.
From the rubber feet coming off, to keys not working well, or the case getting scratched, dented, cracked, or the ports not lasting as long - individually seen - these are minor gripes but can greatly reduce the pleasure of ownership.
And in general, ThinkPads are more tinker friendly than others (now that is changing or has already changed) and are more robust and keep their cosmetic apperance for much longer than other laptops.
Agreed my experience with laptops is limited, but as someone who uses whatever laptops that come to me as desktops, I found ThinkPads to be better than most other laptops, and the same goes for the over all experience of ownership and how robust they are.
Even when buying used, I have seen ThinkPads fare leagues better than other laptops in the same price range.

I’ve used both in different orgs. Latitudes are a lot nicer to use than lower end Thinkpads (better screen, camera etc). Can’t speak to the higher end Thinkpads
Both comfortably last three years of daily office use. Things like HP Z book don’t. My office latitude laptop got converted to a personal one after there years and has lasted another 2.5 years in that role. My current org has 5 year old Thinkpads still going strong. Overall I think both are workhorses. Thinkpads start at a lower entry price though

Both being business laptops, I am assuming you are talking about used, IT-companies-offloaded-through-auctions laptops as generally consumers will not buy a business laptop new for >1.2-1.4 lakhs. Thinkpads just have a dominant market share among companies so thats what you see more in the used market.
Agree with the above comment that Latitudes are nicer than lower end thinkpads. But the higher end X-series offloaded-through-auctions thinkpads that I have used are of impeccable build quality and I would rate above latitude:
Ofcourse, the performance would be similar as they both would use Intel cpus. Except, there are some AMD thinkpads that I think don't come with Latitudes.

- X1 Yoga Intel 10th gen - Best built Aluminium convertible I've owned. Never owned a better hinge for a 2-in-1
- X13 Yoga Intel 10th gen - Magnesium built compact 13" convertible. So dense and rigid.
- T14s Ryzen 7 4750u - Not as premium build as X-series but 8C|16T cpu in a very thin and cool chassis.
Ofcourse, the performance would be similar as they both would use Intel cpus. Except, there are some AMD thinkpads that I think don't come with Latitudes.

So speaking from my experience with ThinkPad, I bought t440 for just 5k, upgraded it and gave it to my brother. This was 7 years back. That is still going strong. Then I bought L480 for 25k just cos intel started to give 4 core 8 threads in i5 from 8th gen. This l480 was still packed and had warranty. However, the build quality of earlier L series was bad. My frame has cracked. You can see the laptop in the garage section.
Recently I have acquired t14 gen2 amd for 28k.
The build is quite nice and the laptop feels rugged. Single slot memory upgrade, wifi chip upgrade, ssd upgrade and battery upgrade can be done easily by the user.
Coming to other business laptops. Hp ProBook:- bad and bulky, broke the hinge in 3 years.
Dell latitude:- good machine for normal use. Suggested my colleague to buy the same intel 10th gen i5, 512 gb SSD, 16gb ram for his wife for around 25k 2 years back. Still going strong.
My experience is biased as I'll always prefer ThinkPad with amd chips for those more extra cores.

i5 11th Gen is my fav processor out of all. 12th gen (esp i7) has poor battery and 9/10th gens have weaker cpu & iGPU. For coding, 13 inch may be too small but subjective.
If you are planning to run VMs, i7 CPUs may be better.
Check thermal parameters HP vs Dell.
