Asphalt 8 game query

Is Asphalt 8 an online game or what? I was trying to play it on a phone when it asked for data access. I promptly accepted and it kept on loading and loading but nothing came out. There was no option to quit so i simply rebooted. :/

It downloads around a GB of data, IIRC.

Are you referring to the game size or update? The game was already installed. It asked me for data connection when i tried to play.

The main file is usually small. It needs to feed on the much larger data file which sits in the 'obb' folder most of the time. That data file is ~1GB. Once you install the game, it will download the data file, after which, you can start playing.

It is like old encyclopedia CDs - do you want to run using the CD ROM or, full install. The full install dumps the contents of the CD in to the HDD and you never need the CD again (till you format, of course!) that dump is the data file/base- or, probably you are too young to get this example

Oh I've been there with the legacy cd's
I thought the game was a one-time installation file like other games. It actually came pre-loaded on the Lenovo A6000 phone so i thought that it was awesome for lenovo to factory install such a huge ass game lol. Got trolled.
