ASRock, a well-know motherboard manufacturer, has launched a new line up of AMD motherboards based on the new 8-series chipset in India, reported thenewsxpress.com. Out of the lot, the 890GX Extreme 3 motherboard and some others comes with their own version of the core unlocking technology known as UCC which can convert a Phenom II X4 CPU into hex-core CPU.

Now before you get too excited, this will not work on existing Phenom II X4 CPUs but the upcoming one with a T at the end like the Phenom II X4 960T. These upcoming chips are essentially X6 chips with two cores disabled and now ASRock and other manufactures are giving you the tools to officially unlock the two hidden cores.

Abacus Peripherals, who is the sole national distributor of ASRock AMD motherboards, will be bringing these products mid-May. Here are the estimated prices:

ATX Price
890FX Deluxe3 Rs. 11,600
890GX Extreme3 Rs. 10,000
880G Extreme3 Rs. 8,000
880GXH/USB3 Rs. 6,560
870Extreme3 Rs. 6,800

Micro ATX
890GM Pro3 Rs. 7,600
880GMH/USB3 Rs. 5,760
880GM-LE Rs. 4,960

Decent choices for ppl buying a AM3 based rig :) Hope the market prices are even lesser and the availability isn't an issue.

ASRock usually have pretty competitive and often outright low prices on their offerings. Though they quite often have unique and occasionally weird offerings, they were always pretty avg in terms of quality. The 890FX Deluxe3 seems to have a comparatively high price going by ASRock standards. Market price should be close to 9k for it to be worthwhile. In any case, I would stick to MSI/Gigabyte/Asus for good boards.

I think asrock has improved a lot and user reviews seem to suggest that extreme3 mobos' build quality is pretty good. The prices seem to be more like retail prices than street prices.

yea i would like to know about the 870 too , looks good , off to read some reviews

But the T processors are not out yet, ri8?

 T is meant to represent thuban IINM. The 6 cores proccies are called Phenom II X6 1055T and 1090T.

Guess u meant the quad core 960T. Nope they havent hit the markets yet :(

^... I don't understand as well... the mobo is X6 supported right out of the box so 960T (quad) should also be supported...

Anyway what I liked about this mobo is the dual PCIe slot & when both are populated they run at x8 unlike ASUS/Gigabyte 870 offerings in which the second slot is limited to x4 & it limits the first slot as well... :(

The feature set is simply awesome. Just needs the price to get settled... A review...

You mean LANGUAGE not Lingo ;)

lingo
• noun (pl. lingos or lingoes) informal, often humorous 1 a foreign language. 2 the jargon of a particular subject or group.

— ORIGIN probably from Latin lingua ‘tongue’.
