Assist me in buying a laptop: 35k

I'm looking to buy a laptop for my sis under 35k. She will be using it primarily for Internet, word processing, movies, programming and occasional photoshop. I've selected few HP models

1) HP Pavilion DV6 - 3209TX ~ 33.5k . This one is shown as discontinued on HP site, will this be a problem in future in terms of support or not?

Core i3 - 380M
3GB DDR3
320GB HDD
ATI HD6370
Win 7

2) HP G62-455TX ~ 35k

Core i3 - 380M
3GB DDR3
320GB HDD
ATI HD6370
Win 7

3) HP G42-478TX ~ 33.2k

Core i3 - 370M
3GB DDR3
500GB HDD
ATI HD6370
Win 7

I know you guys would recommend me to opt Lenovo Z570 with Core i5 2410 + 640GB HDD ~ 35k but only thing it keeps me away is its Intel GMA graphics. I feel Core i3 380/370M is sufficient for her needs + HD6370 would be a better option over Intel graphics any day. :p

Please suggest me a laptop with a similar or better specification.

TIA

Contray to your belief, I'll say pick Lenovo Z570. Lenovo Ideapad Z Series Z570 (59-069599) Laptop Price India: Buy Lenovo Ideapad Z Series Notebook India: Flipkart.com

The Intel HD 3000 integrated graphics is more powerful and better performing than HD6370. Check out the benchmark: Intel HD Graphics 3000 - Notebookcheck.net Tech

So, Lenovo Z570 is what I'll suggest now in sub 35K section.

^ She has no interest in gaming. Won't HD6370 will be better over Intel GMA at movies playback, Aero 3D, Photoshop GPU accleration, Vibrant desktop colors ( with Avivo Saturation) , UVD3 etc. I've seen Intel GMA powered laptops, the display background colors looks fade over ATI/Nvidia because of lack of Digital Vibration/Avivo Saturation like settings. That is why i prefer not to choose Intel Graphics.

Edit 1: Do Intel HD3000 have color saturation setting in control panel? I've not seen this feature in previous intel based GPUs.

Edit 2: I'm off to both Lenovo and HP showrooms. Let me see what price quote i will get in my city. :)

HD6370 wont help her in Photoshop either... Plus Photoshop is biased to Nvidia graphic cards...

I've seen Intel GMA powered laptops, the display background colors looks fade over ATI/Nvidia because of lack of Digital Vibration/Avivo Saturation like settings.

This depends on the Display of a laptop... My brother has Dell XPS Studio which has onboard intel IGP and the colors look equally vibrant... Though i do think that one gets more options to caliberate the display in a discrete GPU powered laptop...

enovo Z570 with Core i5 2410 + 640GB HDD ~ 35k but only thing it keeps me away is its Intel GMA graphics.

I bet she won't be gaming, and even if she does, the HD6370M won't be of any help.

So I suggest go for the 2nd Generation Core processor.

Or best, wait for the Llano laptops, they may be cheaper, like 30k.

I think the Y570 is also available with optional Nvidia GPU. Though I'm not sure of the GPU model since the newspaper advertisement only said "1GB Nvidia Graphics". But I think its GT-420M.

Guys, i went to lenovo showroom, was welcomed by a beautiful lady :p , she showed me a few Z570 (Core i3-2310M based) laptops that were on display @ 35.6k. I asked her about the price of Z570 -5906599 ( Core i5 2410 wala) she called someone on the phone and quoted me price of Rs 39880/- including Tax 5%(Rs 1780) + freight charges (Rs 500) + Bag (Rs 2000). I was like :O.

Next, i went to HP Showroom, they had various models on display and some where lying on floor packed in attractive black boxes. They had HP DV6-3208TX on display @ 37.6k. The salesman showed me few latest models in Pavilion G4 & G6 series. HP Pavilion G4 with Red color ( Core i5-480M + 3GB Ram + 500GB HDD + Intel HD3000) was @ Rs 37,500/-. Hp G6 (Core i5 2410 + ATI HD6470 + 4GB RAM + 640GB HDD) was @ Rs 41,600, out of my budget :(

I've three options to choose

1) Lenovo Z570 (Core i3-2310M + 3GB RAM + 640GB HDD + Intel GMA) @ 35.6k
2) HP Pavilion G4 (Core i5-480M + 3GB RAM + 500GB HDD + Intel GMA) @ 37.5k
3) HP Pavilion DV6-3208TX (Core i3-380 + 3GB RAM + 320GB HDD + ATI HD6370 512MB) @ 37.6k

Rs. 34810 :D (free shipping, in transit insurance, COD option (selected regions)

Lenovo Ideapad Z Series Z570 (59-067790) Laptop Price India: Buy Lenovo Ideapad Z Series Notebook India: Flipkart.com

The config that you have quoted for 35.6k costs 31.4k with free bag and mouse :p

Has anyone tried Acer Aspire 5750G with I5-2410, 4GB ddr3, 500GB SATA, GT 540 1GB, 15.6"

Its coming around for Rs 39400/- and without OS might come to 37.5K...how is the deal guys?

At the end of the day, you know spending bucks on the beautiful lady in the lenovo showroom, will be MOST fruitful.

But still, with matters at hand. I say the Z570 is a great option.

If that's the case then that seems your only option :p Pretty decent specs and compact too.
