So finally I got my IPAD 2 today and first thing I noticed after connecting to pc is it doesn't charge while being connected so I looked over the internet and found this application:

ASUS Ai Charger - Quick charge your iPod, iPhone and even iPad!

And to my surprise it really started charging after installing this app even though I got Abit mobo.

Now my question, how does it really work (if it does) and is it safe for my pc and ipad 2?

Most PC USB ports deliver up to 0.5A current by default. While phones can usually charge with the default current, tablets require more juice to charge. Many tablet don't either charge at all or charge way too slow with the default current.

Ai Charger app basically negotiates the USB bus to provide more current though the USB ports (1.2A instead of the usual 0.5A), while still within safe USB 2 specs. This allows for charging devices that don't usually charge with the default current values or speed up charging for devices that charge at a slow rate.

Had the same problem and installed that driver too, worked.
As said above the problem is with low voltage delivered by USB ports, Ipad is a hungry boy :p
