CPU/Mobo Asus MB + Old P4 Cpu

@c4u, The FSB*Multiplier should be 200*10 , shouldn't it ? If so, then the proccy should be a 200*4 = 800 FSB proccy. Why don't u post a screenshot of CPU-Z with the proccy propertiespage shown in it ?

hey guys look at his Proc.

he is having p4A and as per my knowledge FSB for this series is different.

A series - 400 FSB
B series - 533 FSB
c series - 800 FSB

to take DDR400 he must need proc with 800FSB and DDR 333 also need P4B.
i guess his P4A will support max DDR 200 / 266.

correct me if i am wrong.
avi

to run 1:1 I i believe pc1600 would work

although in some motherboards you can buy higher rated DDR and run at 4:5 or even 2:3 with the ram running faster than the proc...can create more bandwith

its better to get DDR400 and run it at 2-2-2-5 at DDR266 or DDR200 (most RAMs do it..even my transcend did 2-2-2-5 at DDR333) ..much better than getting PC2100 RAMs....

agreed....get tight timings, its worth the extra price

so get 2x512mb ddr 400

Not all RAM can necessarily do tighter timings at lower speeds. I remember Masky telling me his Hyper-X could not. P4s benefit from bandwidth, not timings.

But yes, get the DDR400 since the price diff between DDR400 and 266 is very low. Will come in handy if you migrate to a newer system as well. Even if the mem is rated for higher speeds and has to run at DDR266, it can always downclock by itself.
