ey guys,

I have an Asus P5LD2 Mobo for my Pentium D 820 (OC'ed @ 3.6 Ghz).

My Load times, from the BIOS till the Windows Load Screen is like 40 Seconds... It does an IDE Scan for my Drives everytime it boots, so im guessing thats what takes the time. This is too long, even my old 865 GBF loads in like 10 Seconds.

(everything after Windows Load Screen is fine and Blazing fast) but its just the Load times from the time i switch on the PC till the Windows boot screen is the problem.

Ive looked around in BIOS settings to disable the IDE Scan, but i cudnt find anything.

Is it only My board's problem or all Asus P5LD2's are so slow?

It does an IDE Scan for my Drives everytime it boots" ?

If there is a slow down because it is looking for attached drives then try selecting "not attached" in BIOS for IDE devices on the Primary and Secondary Channels with no drives attached - some BIOS on checking for drives will stop for a few seconds on every IDE Device with no drive attached. Possibly because it thinks the HDD may have not picked up speed .... is there a option in your BIOS which says something to the effect that all drives should spin up at same time or one after another ? I vaguely rememeber reading somewhere about HDD spin up problems when the drives are expected to spin up at same time - or was it when they spin up one after another - jeese I cannot rememebr.

Also, make sure that the HDD is selected as the primary boot device. Usually the floppy is selected aqnd it searches for a floppy.

I duinno if you have done this. Just my 2 cents.

I dont use any floppy drive.

I consider them obsolete :P.

Anyways, yea thanx, i found the IDE Scan Timeout. I set it to 5 seconds, it loads much faster now.

If you have a SATA HDD then set the Primary Master and all to Not Connected.

That way it wont search for IDE drivers.

Though select your optical drive from the IDE ports list ;)

i always disable all things in BIOS which i am not using like the second SATA controller ..... IDE SLAVE ..... parallel port, serial port, onboard lan and many more things ..... floppy driver is always disabled in bios ......

my asus p5ld2 when i turn on the computer next said whait for IDE scan a is very slow 1 minute how can i disable that???? can help me?? what e have the change in BIOS??
thanks

mebbe its becuz of the ite controller the 945 uses...only one native ide port..
same thing happens with darkys 955x too

Well, since right now, coz of my PSU, none of my DVD-ROM's or CD-ROM's work.

Load times are blazing fast. Scan doesnt detect anything, so its really really fast. :).

Seems this should be resolved with a BIOS update...funny how this prob occurs. Just changing BIOS settings doesn't help, I'm sure guys facing it are geeky enough to manage that on their own...

I have an asus 925X same P5 series and no probs @ all. BIOS takes maybe 12~15 seconds to a complete windows XP welcome screen.

i have my hard disk in primary IDE and the dvd-rom in primary EIDE and dvd-rw in secondary EIDE. and is very solow in scan??
what i have the change in BIOS??
thanks

Ok.

I guess you have a P5LD2 BIOS 0303?

Ill, let you know in an hour, ill check when i restart my PC.

I dont remember how to do it. You cant disable it. Coz then you HDD and CD-Rom's wont be detected. But you can ofcourse Lower the Timeout.

You have to find a sweetspot. Maybe 5, 10 or even 0.

no. my p5ld2 and bios is version 0901 and i don't no to configure the think in bios to disable the ide scan or put more fast?? yes i find that think u said and put 0 in time and no change anything i have the wait the same time to enter in windows
help
thanks

Hi Friends !

I'd just baught Asus P5LD2 and was thinking It might be an ideal Mother Board,:( But Perhaps I done a mistake as it is not that fast as i was thinking. The biggest problem is that I could not install even OS on it though I am using Windows XP Professional. with 2GB RAM, Intel Pentium D 3.0 GHz processor, Seagete 160GB SATA HDD with ATI Rodeon 256M X1600 Pro Graphic Card.

it take about 30-40 secs to see screen that IDE scan copmlete and did not find any drive. Though in Bios setup I can see SATA and third Primary Disk. Copyong of files ( windows XP) is really very slow as compare to my Old PC:@ . and after copying all files windows setup suddenly stop and display a blue screen of death. displaying

STOP: 0X000007B

it says check your system for any virus, HDD controller or HDD configration. I'd tried all possible ways and even Asus did not response to my query.

I will be thankful to you gus if you may give any clue to solve this problem.

Thanksing you in advance.

^^ I got this exact same error.

You need to flash the BIOS. You must have the Revision 0301 BIOS as i did.

I got it installed pretty soon, using different methods or trial and error.

But the fix is a flash of the BIOS.

Go to www.asus.com and find out how you can do it.

If you rather want me to help, then i can tell you how :).
