ASUS has inadvertently shipped confidential information and illegal serial keys for software along with some of the recovery DVDs for its laptops. The discovery was made by a PC Pro reader. Apart from finding a serial key for WinRar, he also chanced upon internal ASUS documents, confidential Microsoft documentation meant for corporate partners and if that was not enough -- there was even a CV of a person in the disc!
One of the documents also describes, "problems faced" identified by the company -- mostly software incompatibilities. This is not the first time this has happened. A poster in the ASUS forum had received a similar disc with similar content not too long ago.
ASUS has apologized to the customers who found the files in their discs and is reportedly investigating this at "quite a high-level". At the same time the company is unable to explain how these files ended up on the disc.
